CWCI Schedules Seminars on 2010 Revisions to California WC Regulations

September 9, 2010

The California Workers’ Compensation Institute will conduct a one-day seminar in October in San Francisco and Long Beach to educate employers and industry professionals on the recently adopted regulations affecting key areas of workers’ compensation — including those governing medical provider network application and notification requirements, employee notices, and the air ambulance fee schedule.

The state Division of Workers’ Compensation has finalized these regulations in the last few months, while others are in the process with development though stakeholder meetings and public hearings slated to continue in 2011. The goal of this program is to help claims administrators, employers, attorneys, hearing reps, medical managers, and other members of the workers’ compensation community understand the recent regulatory revisions that have been adopted and to develop operational strategies to respond appropriately.

CWCI will present the seminar from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, October 18 at the Grand Long Beach Event Center and on Wednesday, October 20 at Hotel Nikko in San Francisco. Tuition is $395, with a discount available for regular employees of CWCI member companies. Early registration is encouraged.

CWCI is an approved continuing education provider for registered nurses (provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider # CEP6150 for 5 contact hours), and a State Bar of California approved MCLE and Workers’ Comp Specialization provider (5 hours). The Institute also has applied for approval of 5 hours for CDMS (formerly CIRS) and CCM, will provide certificates of attendance for submission to the Assn. of Hearing Representatives of California, and will provide certificates of attendance in anticipation of the upcoming claims adjuster certification requirements. Details and registration forms are available online at www.cwci.org or by calling Mel Long at 510-251-9470.
