WC Adjuster Certification (WCAC) Data Call To Be Issued Within A Week – DUE 7/7/14

Date: 04/10/2014

The Institute has confirmed that within the next week the California Department of Insurance (CDI) plans to issue the Workers’ Compensation Adjuster Certification (WCAC) Data Call for claims adjuster and medical bill reviewer data pursuant to California Insurance Code §11761 and CCR, Title 10, §§2592 – 2592.08. The Data Call was initially set to be issued tomorrow (April 11), but the release may be pushed back to next week pending website upgrades being conducted by CDI’s IT department.

The Data Call will include specific instructions on how to retrieve the reporting materials from the internet and how to submit the data. After the Data Call is received, a WCAC Acknowledgement of Receipt Form will be due May 12, and may be completed electronically and returned to CDI by e-mail. By July 7, insurance companies admitted to transact workers’ compensation insurance in California must submit a completed Data Workbook to certify their adjusters and/or medical bill reviewers, while self-insured employers and TPAs are not required to use the Data Workbook and should continue to use the format provided in CCR 2592 et seq.

If you have additional issues or questions after reviewing the information in the WCAC Data call and on the CDI website, you may contact:

If you have staff members who need additional continuing education units, CWCI will conduct its 16th annual California Workers’ Compensation Case Law Update Seminar on May 12 in Long Beach and May 14 in San Francisco which will provide 5 hours of credit toward the CDI requirements. A seminar flyer is attached, or you can get more information or register online at http://www.cwci.org/conferences.html.
