SB 863 Training Materials

The Institute just completed our SB 863 training seminars, and both the Long Beach and San Francisco sessions sold out. CWCI is now making additional copies of the course manual available to those who were unable to attend or who wish to do in-house training. The course manual is broken into seven sections:

   • Indemnity Benefits (PD, Return to Work Fund, SJDB)
   • Medical Utilization & Independent Medical Review
   • Medical Fee Schedules, Payments & Disputes (RBRVS, ASC, IHFS surgical hardware, home health care, copy services, interpreters, vocational experts)
   • Other Disputes (AME/QME, Liens)
   • MPNs
   • Miscellaneous (Conflict of Interest, Collective Bargaining Agreements, Self-Insurance)
   • SB 863 (including statutory timeframes for implementation and a copy of the bill with amendments highlighted)

The manual provides useful supplementary information as well, including sample Permanent Partial Disability ratings for pre- and post-2013 injuries; an updated PD indemnity chart; a glossary of Independent Medical Review (IMR) terms and lists of IMR notice and document production requirements; summaries of issues for discussion following each section; issue specific excerpts from SB 863; a spreadsheet of the statutory timeframes for SB 863 provisions; and a copy of the final bill with changes and deletions highlighted.
The price of the training manual is $65 ($50 for CWCI member companies). In addition, a diskette of the PowerPoint presentation (150+ slides) used at the seminar is available for $150 ($100 for CWCI member companies).
