Registration Is Open: CWCI's 62nd Annual Meeting — March 26, 2026
The California Workers’ Compensation Institute is pleased to announce that registration is now open for our 62nd Annual Meeting, which will again be held at the Sofia Tsakopoulos Center for the Arts (aka, “the Sofia”) in Sacramento. This year’s meeting will be held on Thursday, March 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The theme of the 2026 meeting will be “When Old Models No Longer Hold,” an examination of how the cyclical nature of the system has presented incredible challenges and opportunities, where the system is in the current cycle, and how developing economic and political dynamics will shape the direction of the system in years to come.
The program will include:
-
Sarah Bohn, PhD, Vice President of Research and Senior Fellow at the Public Policy Institute of California, returns to our Annual Meeting to offer an update on the California economy.
-
CWCI Vice President of Research Eva Davinia Loaeza Albino, PhD will present the Institute’s recent research series on cost drivers in the California workers’ compensation system, including cumulative trauma.
-
CWCI President Gideon Baum will present results from recent Institute research and provide an overview of the research agenda for 2026.
-
CWCI Executive Vice-President and General Counsel Sara Widener-Brightwell will discuss the legal issues likely to be addressed by the courts in the year ahead, followed by a panel discussion of the 2026 workers’ compensation political landscape.
The Sofia, located at 2700 Capitol Ave in downtown Sacramento is conveniently located just a block and a half off I-80 (the Cap City Freeway), between 27th St. and 28th St. A Continental breakfast will be served prior to the meeting, with a luncheon provided at noon. Additional details on hotel accommodations and parking information will be forthcoming.
