CDI Issues 2021 WCAC Data Call, Submission Deadline Extension Requests Must Be Emailed by June 25

CDI Issues 2021 WCAC Data Call, Submission Deadline Extension Requests Must Be Emailed by June 25

The California Department of Insurance today issued formal notice to all insurers admitted to transact workers’ compensation insurance in the state advising them of their 2021 workers’ compensation adjuster certification and medical bill review data (WCAC-2021) reporting obligations.  The annual report is required under Ins. Code §11761 and CCR, Title 10, Chapter 5, Subchapter 3, §§2592–2592.08.

As was the case last year, this year’s data call was issued about a month later than usual, but the announced submission deadlines were not automatically extended.  According to the data call, insurers must return the WCAC-2021 Acknowledgement of Receipt Form no later than June 11, while the WCAC-2021 Data Workbook and affidavit are due no later than July 6, 2021.  Although the June 11 deadline for submitting the Acknowledgment of Receipt Form is only two weeks from this Friday, and that deadline is firm, CDI will allow companies to request a 10-day extension (to Friday, July 16) for submitting the WCAC-2021 data workbook.  Extension requests, however, must be emailed to Fernando.DelaMerced@insurance.ca.gov by June 25.

A circular letter attached to the notice, which was issued via email, includes more details and reporting instructions, as well as information on how insurers can retrieve the required reporting materials from the internet. CWCI has posted the letter here.  Anyone with additional questions on the 2021 WCAC may contact Mr. De la Merced via email.
