2020 Case Law Seminar: Registration Notice
CWCI has scheduled its 22nd annual California Workers’ Compensation case law – this year with an important difference. As we are all aware, the nature of the worldwide COVID-19 outbreak is in flux and changing daily. The health and well-being of our attendees is of primary concern to us, as the coronavirus situation continues to evolve. To help reduce the risk of spreading infection, this year we will be presenting our Case Law Seminar via live online video broadcast on July 7, 2020, in lieu of any in-person meetings.
CWCI’s annual case law seminar is the longest running program of its type in the industry and provides the most comprehensive review of the last year in decisional law. The full-day program will review recent court decisions and provide insight into appropriate negotiation and defense strategies for claims personnel, attorneys, hearing reps, and other industry professionals. Many attendees return year after year in order to keep up to date on judicial precedent that affects how they do their jobs every day. CWCI General Counsel Ellen Sims Langille will moderate this year’s program, which will again feature veteran defense attorneys Saul Allweiss and Richard Jacobsmeyer, as well as applicants’ attorney Elizabeth Hudson. Combined, these panelists will offer real-world, practical insight from both defense and applicant perspectives. In addition to providing updates on recent rulings, the speakers will identify issues related to statutory and regulatory changes, examine old case law to see what still applies and what does not, and offer attendees a fresh look at the impact of case law.
Seminar Features:
- The live on-line seminar will include a full audio-visual presentation identifying important case details, factual backgrounds, and other highlights for every case on the agenda. The program materials will also include links to actual decisions.
- Registrants will be given a link to the complete electronic version of the course materials (including hyperlinks to the actual decisions) one week prior to the seminar, to be downloaded to a laptop or printed out in advance. - CWCI has received certification to offer 5.0 hours of MCLE credits, including 5.0 hours of Workers’ Compensation Specialization credits, from the State Bar of California for this program. Also, upon completion of the seminar we will provide certificates of attendance for submission to the Association of Hearing Representatives of California and for verification of hours for those in need of credit for Department of Insurance workers’ compensation claims adjuster certification requirements.
