2013 Case Law Update Seminars

Date: 04/11/2013

The Institute has finalized plans for the 2013 California Workers’ Compensation Case Law Update seminars – the latest installment in the Institute’s successful case law seminar series initiated 15 years ago. The program will be presented by our veteran faculty, consisting of attorney Saul Allweiss, Jake Jacobsmeyer and Michael Marks, who will offer claims and legal personnel information and insights so they can work together to develop effective defense and negotiation strategies. The program will again use a debate-style format to review recent trends in decisional law related to:

   • PD
   • Psychiatric Injuries
   • Medical care (Utilization Review, Independent Medical Review; non-MPN treatment; Valdez)
   • Lien Litigation

The program will be held Monday, May 13 at Grand Long Beach Event Center and Thursday, May 16 at the Hotel Nikko in San Francisco. The faculty presentations are scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a hosted lunch from noon to 1 p.m., mid-morning and mid-afternoon beverage breaks, and a Q&A session scheduled to run until 3:30 p.m.

The California Workers’ Compensation Institute has applied to the State Bar of California for approval as an MCLE provider (five hours) and the Institute also will provide certificates of attendance for submission to the Association of Hearing Representatives of California and for the verification of hours for those in need of credit for the California Department of Insurance workers’ compensation claims adjuster certification requirement. The course flyer and registration form are attached. Please note: space is limited, and preregistration is required. The fastest and easiest way to register is to enroll online.
