2013 Case Law Seminars: Registration Notice
CWCI will hold a 1-day case law seminar Monday, May 13 in Long Beach and Thursday, May 16 in San Francisco to examine trends in case law in light of ongoing workers’ compensation reforms, and to discuss appropriate negotiation and defense strategies for claims personnel, attorneys, hearing reps, and other industry professionals. This program is the latest in CWCI’s case law series that began 15 years ago. The 2013 sessions will review recent rulings and identify issues related to the changes included in SB 863, examine old case law to see what still applies and what does not, and offer workers’ comp claims and legal professionals a fresh look at the impact of case law.
As in past case law programs, the faculty for this year’s sessions includes attorneys Michael Marks and Saul Allweiss of the Law Offices of Allweiss & McMurtry, and Richard Jacobsmeyer of Shaw, Jacobsmeyer, Crain & Claffey, all of whom have both applicant and defense experience. The program will be moderated by CWCI General Counsel Mike McClain, and the speakers will use a debate-style format to present alternate views on recent decisions and insights into what they mean for those trying to deliver benefits or defend claims. The 2013 program will explore a wide range of cases and topics, including PD rating; psych issues; medical treatment issues; and lien litigation.
The program will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the following locations:
| Monday, May 13 | The Grand Long Beach Event Center |
| Thursday, May 16 | Hotel Nikko, San Francisco |
