2009 California Workers' Comp Regulatory Update: What Does It Mean to You?
DWC continues to adopt regulations related to the implementation of the 2002 – 2004 reforms – including the recently approved Medical Treatment Utilization Schedule, claim audit regulations, and QME regulations.
To help workers’ compensation professionals gain a practical understanding of the new regulations and respond with appropriate claims and defense strategies, CWCI has scheduled a one-day training seminar, "2009 California Workers’ Comp Regulatory Update: What Does It All Mean to You?"
The seminar will be held from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm at two locations:
| Tuesday, October 13 | The Grand Long Beach Event Center |
| Tuesday, October 20 | Hotel Nikko, San Francisco |
The seminar will not only review what’s new, it will provide an in-depth discussion of the issues and problems that have arisen, and the options that are available for claims administrators, TPAs, attorneys, hearing reps, nurses and medical case managers who must work within the new regulatory framework.
The faculty includes defense attorney Richard Jacobsmeyer of Shaw, Jacobsmeyer, Crain, Calffey & Nix; Jacqueline Secia, a workers’ comp claims and audit specialist with 30+ years experience as a claims manager, consultant and instructor for industry organizations, individual insurance companies, self-insured employers and TPAs; CWCI Claims and Medical Director Brenda Ramirez; and CWCI General Counsel Mike McClain. Tuition for the one-day program is $395, with a $100 discount for CWCI member company employees.
CWCI is an approved continuing education provider for registered nurses (provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider # CEP6150 for 5 contact hours) and a State Bar of California approved MCLE and Workers’ Comp Specialization provider (5 hours). CWCI also will provide certificates of attendance for the Association of Hearing Representatives of California and for those seeking Department of Insurance claims adjuster or medical bill reviewer certification credits or other certifications.
CWCI members should register early as space is limited and registrations will be accepted in the order received. The fastest and easiest way to register is to enroll online. Simply click the "Seminar" button at www.cwci.org to sign up using the online registration system. Alternatively, you may complete and return the registration form on the back of the enclosed flyer along with your payment. CWCI will accept all registrations received by October 6, but accepts no liability or responsibility if an individual or accounting department fails to meet the deadline. Registrations received after that date and walk-ins may only be accepted on a space available basis, so register early.
