Use of post-surgical physical medicine and chiropractic manipulation to treat California injured workers has declined under the 2004 workers' comp reforms, but a CWCI study shows nearly 90% of surgical claims still involve physical medicine at some point – with 91% of those involving services after surgery — while 30% of surgical claims involve chiropractic manipulation visits at some point, and nearly half of those involve post-surgical visits.
