Total workers' comp premium in California continued to drop last year, declining almost $2.2 billion to about $9 billion according to NAIC data posted by the Dept of Insurance. Most of the largest insurers wrote significantly less premium than in 2006, but the amount of the reductions varied, so there were several shifts in the rankings of the top carriers.
