CWCI Member Exclusive: Updated Claims Monitoring Interactive Application and Interactive Research Report
Last month, CWCI updated our Claims Monitoring Interactive Application to include paid loss data from the Industry Research Information System (IRIS) database on AY 2009 – AY 2023 claims valued as of December 31, 2023.
The Claims Monitoring Application allows CWCI members to access data on average medical payments, average paid indemnity, and combined medical and indemnity payments at nine different development periods ranging from 3 months to 72 months post injury for all claims or for indemnity claims alone, and to break out the results for a specific accident year or for specific periods. The Application also allows users to drill down to obtain data by region and industry, and to display results on heat maps that highlight regional differences.
As a CWCI member, you are welcome to visit our website (www.cwci.org) to view an Interactive Research Report that includes examples of some of the latest results and trends, and provides a refresher on how the Application is formatted and can be used. The Claims Monitoring Application is one of seven interactive data applications that CWCI members can access on our website by logging on with their username and password. (If you haven’t set up a member account, select “Your Account” at the top of the home page, click “Add me as a Member User” from the pull-down menu, complete the form, then use the information to log in). If you need assistance, call 510-251-9470.
Once you are logged on, use the drop-down menu under the Research tab at the top of the home page and click “Interactive Research Tools,” then scroll down to the “CWCI Claims Monitoring Interactive Tool – Updated 7-1-24” and click the title of the Application. This will open the initial tab, “Average Payments by Accident Year and Development.” Clicking the second tab at the top of the screen will open the “Region & Industry Detail.” These first two tabs include a series of filters that allow users to select different metrics and change the exhibits, allowing them to build customized views. The third tab at the top of the screen opens the “Data and Methods” section, which offers details on the data and how it was compiled.
As new data becomes available, CWCI updates its Applications to provide our members with current data. The next updates, scheduled for January 2025, will include data through June 2024. In the meantime, we are also preparing Interactive Research Reports on other applications, with the next report focusing on the Regional Scorecard Application.
