Cal/OSHA Issues Emergency Reg on Electronic Submission of OSHA 300A Forms

Date: 10/19/2018

Yesterday, Cal/OSHA released an emergency reg that will require all employers with 250+ employees, as well as those from select, high-hazard industries, to submit their annual 300A Summary of Work-Related Injuries electronically.  Under the regulation, which is intended to bring Cal/OSHA recordkeeping requirements in line with federal requirements, affected employers will need to transmit their OSHA 300A summary data for 2017 by Dec. 31 of this year.

Cal/OSHA plans to submit the emergency reg to the Office of Administrative Law (OAL) next Tuesday (October 23), after which it will be posted at www.oal.ca.gov for 5-day public comment.  OAL will then have 10 days to review the reg and comments, and barring additional changes, it will take effect after that.
