2011 Case Law Seminars: Pre-Regostration Notice

Date: 03/01/2011

CWCI has finalized plans for the 2011 California workers’ compensation case law seminars, the 13th installment in CWCI’s successful seminar series initiated in 1999. As in the past, the 2011 program will offer workers’ compensation claims and legal professionals information and insights on case law so they can work together to develop effective defense and negotiation strategies. The sessions will be presented by attorneys Saul Allweiss and Michael Marks (Law Offices of Saul Allweiss, Tarzana) and Richard Jacobsmeyer (Shaw, Jacobsmeyer, Crain, Claffey & Nix, Oakland), and moderated by CWCI General Counsel Mike McClain.

The program will be held Monday, May 16 at the Grand Event Center in Long Beach, and will be repeated Wednesday May 18 at the Hotel Nikko in San Francisco. The seminar will review trends in decisional law and present both the applicant and defense perspectives on various topics using a debate-style format. The program will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with lunch from noon to 1 p.m., as well as morning and afternoon breaks.

Continuing education units will be available for attorneys, as CWCI is a state bar of California approved MCLE provider (5 hours). The Institute also will provide certificates of attendance for those seeking credit towards the Department of Insurance workers’ comp claim administrator certification requirements and for submission to the Association of Hearing Representatives of California.

The seminar fee, which includes all materials, beverage service and the luncheon, is $395, with a $75 discount available to CWCI member company employees (see the back of the enclosed flyer, which has more details and a registration form). CWCI members should register early as space is limited and registrations will be accepted in the order received.

The fastest and easiest way to register is to enroll online. Simply click the "Seminar" button at www.cwci.org to sign up using the online registration system. Alternatively, you may complete and return the registration form on the back of the enclosed flyer along with your payment. CWCI will guarantee space for all registrations received by May 12, but accepts no liability or responsibility if an individual or accounting department fails to meet the deadline. Registrations received after that date and walk-ins may only be accepted on a space available basis, so register early. If you have questions or special needs, call Mel Long at CWCI, 510-251-9470.
