Ultimate insured losses on 2008 California work injury claims are projected to rise to $7.7 billion, up about 18% from the post-reform low of 2005, but with premium rates down, the WCIRB estimates that insurers will pay $1.11 in losses and expenses for every dollar of 2008 premium.
